Cornell University Launches Groundbreaking Center to Revolutionize Proteomics Research

Cornell University is making a bold move in the field of proteomics with the establishment of the Center for Innovative Proteomics (CIP@Cornell). This exciting new initiative seeks to mobilize and organize the proteomics community at Cornell and beyond, by fostering collaboration and innovation in this rapidly-evolving field.

The center, which will be officially launched with an open house event on Thursday, April 6th, at 11:30 A.M. in room G10 of the Biotech building, promises to be a game-changer for proteomics research. Through regular seminars featuring leading experts from both within and outside Cornell, CIP@Cornell will connect proteomics labs and users across all Cornell campuses, facilitating the exchange of ideas and information about cutting-edge proteomic technologies.

The open house will provide attendees with a unique opportunity to learn about the latest proteomics technologies and instruments available across Cornell campuses, including Spatial Proteomics and the CyTOF machines that are not even available at the Ithaca campus. Visitors will also be introduced to the Proteomics & Metabolomics Cores at both Ithaca and NYC campuses, which will be an essential resource for researchers across Cornell, as well as exciting emerging technologies being developed in research labs.

Leading the charge is the center’s director, Dr. Haiyuan Yu of WICMB, who is committed to creating an inclusive community of researchers and encouraging broad participation. The event is open to anyone interested in learning about proteomics, regardless of their background or experience in the field.

To ensure an intimate and productive event, participation will be limited to one participant per lab (PI or a senior graduate student/postdoc as a representative), but the event will also be available via Zoom for those who cannot attend in person.
